Job Summary

Conduct installations, maintenance, and repairs for plumbing, carpentry, and painting across retail stores, warehouses, and office buildings within the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Dispatch emergency calls and update the computerized maintenance management system as tasks complete or issues arise. Purchase repair materials, manage supply inventory, and track reimbursable expenses for monthly submission. Provide senior-level guidance to other technicians and administer the core locking system at all locations. Maintain safe work practices in accordance with local building codes while working a rotating on-call schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays. Requires daily travel, own reliable transportation, and a valid driver's license.

Required Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Two to Four years' of recent experience in maintenance of a multi-unit commercial building or retail environment that required driving between work locations
  • Considerable knowledge and experience in plumbing, carpentry, and general maintenance and repair in a commercial setting
  • General understanding of various Federal, State and County codes and regulations involving construction, installation, fire, safety and sanitation
  • Must have own reliable transportation and valid 'clear' driver's license and be able to drive to any location within the Goodwill market area
  • Proficient in using MS Office Outlook (email and calendar)
  • Ability to analyze facts and exercise sound judgment in arriving at conclusions
  • Ability to prioritize effectively
  • Must be able to work a regular Monday – Friday daytime schedule and a rotating on call schedule that includes evenings, weekends and/or holidays
  • Must be able to travel daily to various locations within the Washington, DC metropolitan area
  • Must be able to work occasional nights and/or weekends
  • Must be able to effectively lead and coach others

Desired Qualifications

  • High School Diplomas or GED, advanced studies preferred
  • 5+ years of previous experience in general carpentry, plumbing, painting, and other general maintenance activities
