Job Summary
Senior Mainframe Storage Administrator responsible for providing technical support with a high degree of customer happiness by meeting SLAs and process compliance. Responsible for storage box data migration (DASD to DASD and Tape to tape), storage replication, root cause analysis, disaster recovery planning and testing, and development/maintenance of procedures for backup/restore, performance tuning, and environment configuration. Will initialize/add DASD/tape volumes, manage SMS/ACS routines, perform space management (VTOC resizing, defrag, compress/reclaim/release/cleanup of datasets), and lead on-call coverage across global time zones. Requires strong knowledge of Z/OS, DFSMS, JES2, SAS, REXX, IDCAMS, GDPS, and related mainframe storage tooling; must be able to collaborate with clients and internal teams and participate in on-call rotations.
Required Qualifications
- 9+ Years of Experience in Mainframe Storage Administration
- Experience with DASD and tape data storage solutions (DASD/Tape Configuration and Migration)
- Working knowledge of Z/OS Operating System, z/OS(MVS) fundamentals, Storage fundamentals and Storage Devices
- Proficiency in TSO, ISPF, JCL, VSAM, ISMF, JES2, Catalogs, Datasets (PS/PDS/PDSE/GDG), REXX, SAS, SDSF and Spool
- Knowledge of DFSMS, DFSMSHSM, DFSMSDSS, DFSMSDFP, DFSMSRMM, ICF Catalog, VSAM, IDCAMS, CA products (CA Disk, CA allocate and CA-1), FDR products, Omegamon XE or related Storage monitoring tools
- Experience with Space management tools and DR concepts including Tape and DASD replication
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field
- Willingness to work in US/Europe/Asia Pacific hours and on-call rotations
