Job Summary
Operate a set of raschel knit machines, removing empty beams and tying in new warps to assure first-quality fabric production. Replace yarn breaks, reset stitch clocks, and patrol equipment to maintain quality standards while managing tie-in and lease warps. Perform other related duties as required, including operating powered industrial equipment and maintaining a clean work area. This safety-sensitive role involves working around moving mechanical parts in a loud, hot environment with temperatures exceeding 100 degrees Fahrenheit. The position reports to the Hudson Operations Manager at the Twister facility.
Required Qualifications
- Legally authorized to work in the US
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to operate motorized equipment
- Basic reading/writing skills
- Basic math skills
- Ability to stand while working 95% of day
- Ability to sit down 5% of day
- Ability to move throughout plant: 50% of day
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. 10% of day
- Ability to walk upstairs, climb to top of range (approx. 16 ft) 35% of day
- Ability to push/pull fabric rolls, A-frames (approx 1500lbs) 35% of day
- Ability to pick up objects from the floor 15% of day
- Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens. 100% of day
- Cognitive: Alert. Able to make decisions, reason, and understand information. 100% of day
- Must be capable of being trained to remove empty beams and tie in new beams
- Ability to operate a set of raschel knitting machines
- Ability to identify and classify defects
