Job Summary
Lead a team in Signifyd's AI Lab to run a portfolio of experiments that improve predictive performance for fraud and risk decisions at scale. Guide career development, manage conflicts, and mentor engineers to own code quality while translating complex ML metrics into clear business outcomes for Risk leadership. Balance research bets against quarterly delivery by making data-driven calls on which hypotheses receive compute and headcount, ensuring offline results predict online behavior before shipping. Partner with Risk partners to set explicit performance commitments and collaborate with platform teams on feature systems and training pipelines. Represent team results to engineering and Risk leadership while fostering a culture where well-documented negative experimental results are celebrated as progress.
Required Qualifications
- Roughly 5+ years in machine learning, data science, or ML-adjacent software engineering
- At least 3 years of people management
- Genuine depth in at least one of engineering and applied statistics
- Real working competence in the other (engineering or applied statistics)
- Demonstrated ability to lead work under real uncertainty
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Autonomy in recognizing priorities and evaluating the impact of outcomes
- Comfort working without close supervision in a fast-moving environment
- Commitment to quality
