Job Summary
Own the vision and execution of machine learning solutions for the Multimodal Safety AI system, leading a team of engineers to develop innovative architectures for multimodal content safety. Architect large-scale models to detect and mitigate abusive behavior across avatars, images, videos, audio, and text while balancing user freedom with platform civility. Drive alignment on complex technical decisions across Product, Policy, and Trust & Safety teams to define the roadmap for multimodal safety initiatives. Break down long-term goals into an iterative plan delivering continuous improvements in model performance and data quality. Stay ahead of emerging AI trends to anticipate new challenges in content moderation.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience building large-scale machine learning systems in production environments
- Proven track record of designing, developing, and launching ML models from scratch into production
- 2+ years of hands-on experience with vision language models or other foundation model technologies
- Expertise in solving complex ML modeling, data, and infrastructure challenges
- Experience with modern microservice architectures and distributed systems programming paradigms
- Hands-on to dive into code/architecture and guide technical discussions when needed
- Roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA
- Roles that are based in an office are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday
