Job Summary
Lead the design, development, and deployment of state-of-the-art ML/AI systems for Lyft's Rider Applied AI team. Design scalable ML pipelines, collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and software engineers to align ML initiatives with business goals, mentor engineers, and produce production-level code for real-time ML applications and LLM-based use cases. Focus on turning research into scalable, end-to-end ML workflows and driving data-driven decision making.
Required Qualifications
- B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science or related field or relevant work experience
- 8+ years (or Ph.D. with 6+ years) of experience in ML/data science
- 3+ years in a senior or staff engineering role
- Deep understanding of supervised/unsupervised learning, reinforcement learning, and advanced optimization techniques
- Experience with ML libraries (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras)
- Experience with distributed computing (Spark, Hadoop)
- Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Proven ability to turn research ML papers into production code
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Formal in-office hybrid role with at least 3 days per week in the office
