Job Summary
EU Sample Management Coordinator role within Azenta Life Sciences requiring coordination of shipping biological samples and materials across Europe and internationally. Responsibilities include managing day-to-day shipping orders, preparing cover letters and required freight/customs documentation, supporting import/export compliance, liaising with customs authorities and brokers, maintaining records, audits and process documentation, improving logistics processes, and assisting in incoming goods processing and inventory management. Must have vocational training or degree in logistics/related field, practical logistics/customs experience, strong knowledge of shipping documentation and regulatory requirements, and fluency in German and English. The position is based in Griesheim, Germany, within a four-person European logistics team, and emphasizes compliance, accuracy, and cross-functional collaboration.
Required Qualifications
- Vocational training or a degree in business administration, logistics, customs, or a similar qualification
- Practical work experience in logistics, customs, import/export, or within a freight forwarding company
- Sound understanding of customs clearance processes, shipping documentation, and import/export compliance requirements
- Familiarity with tariff classification, country of origin, customs value, restricted party screening, or license-related checks (advantage)
- Fluent in German and English (B2 level or higher)
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Reliability clearance in accordance with Section 7 of the German Aviation Security Act (LuftSiG)
- Team player with international collaboration
- Proficiency in MS Office; ERP familiarity is an advantage
- Attention to detail and prioritization skills
