Job Summary
Prepare and serve all food items using high-quality ingredients and correct portion sizes while controlling costs. Record and monitor food temperatures during storage, preparation, cooking, and serving, and label, date, and properly store all foods. Comply with state and local rules for a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen by washing and sanitizing equipment and performing general cleaning of the cook's area, freezers, and refrigerators. Check inventory of needed supplies daily, remove garbage to the dumpster, and report equipment or safety issues to the Food Service Director. Work as a team member to maintain a pleasant environment, adhering to established safety procedures while operating kitchen equipment.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum two years cooking experience
- Ability to communicate by speaking, seeing, and hearing sufficient to serve the residents
- Professional and neat appearance and presentation
- Adherence to the dress code
- Good personal hygiene
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Ability to relate to residents and associates in a courteous and diplomatic manner under all circumstances
- Completion of drug testing
- Completion of criminal record background check
- Ability to bend
- Ability to stand
- Ability to lift, stoop, sit, walk, stretch
- Ability to lift/carry up to 40 pounds
- Must be free of communicable disease
- Must be available for part-time PRN (as needed) position
- Must be able to work no late nights
