Senior Living Community Maintenance Director

Job Summary
Senior Living Community Maintenance Director oversees the maintenance department and campus facilities (maintenance, building systems, grounds, safety, and security), develops and implements department policies, manages staffing (hiring, training, scheduling, evaluation, and termination), secures vendor bids (minimum of three bids when needed), participates in annual budget planning, ensures compliance with budget and quality standards, maintains critical systems (security, fire alarms, emergency generators, fire sprinklers), oversees preventative maintenance, and serves on-call during after-hours, emergencies, and disasters. Requires reading and interpreting technical/regulatory documents, and the ability to prepare reports and procedures. Must have broad knowledge of facility management, engineering-related systems, and regulatory standards for long-term care environments.
Required Qualifications
- High School education required
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, architecture, safety, or related fields preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in facilities management, preferably in a hospitality or health care environment
- Ability to read, write and follow written and verbal directions; ability to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures of the physical plant unit
- Knowledge of supervisory skills, operation and maintenance of facility management services, chillers and boilers, vehicles, refrigeration and air conditioning, generators, plumbing and electrical systems, blueprint reading, security systems, equipment maintenance, cleaning chemicals, and infection control procedures and universal precautions
- Knowledge of current regulatory standards for long-term care and continuing care retirement communities
