Job Summary
Senior Litigation Attorney to lead and support high-impact litigation across First Amendment, administrative, civil rights, and open government issues. Responsibilities include drafting legal opinions, briefs, analyses, articles, memos, and blog posts; collaborating with internal teams on labor reform strategy; communicating legal efforts to supporters, media, and the public; advising staff on legal matters tied to outreach and messaging; building relationships with allied legal groups and external attorneys; representing the Foundation at public events and speaking engagements. Reporting to the Chief Litigation Counsel, this role involves both strategic legal work and hands-on litigation in federal/state courts and administrative agencies. The Foundation prefers candidates based in Olympia, WA or Dallas, TX, but may consider other locations for exceptional talent.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of intensive litigation experience strongly preferred
- Licensed to practice in at least one state where the Foundation operates
- Strong legal research and writing skills
- Demonstrated alignment with the Foundation’s mission and values
- Comfortable managing an independent caseload while working collaboratively
- Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven team
