Job Summary

Provide expert-level administration of RedHat Linux systems, ensuring optimal performance and security for Department of War scientists. Perform systems enhancement, configuration, maintenance, installation, and software upgrades while maintaining and managing the Enterprise Satellite server. Lead a team of high-performing Linux administrators, providing guidance, technical expertise, and project leadership. Automate routine and complex tasks using Ansible, streamlining operations and improving efficiency. Monitor and tune systems to achieve optimum performance levels, adhering to established policies, procedures, and service level agreements. Identify and address performance issues and optimize the production environment for mission-critical systems. Perform acceptance testing of modules, subsystems, and total systems. Maintain documentation and records to demonstrate adherence to regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of Linux Systems Administration experience
  • Current DoW 8570 IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE or equivalent) prior to start
  • One of the following Linux certifications prior to start: Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), CompTIA Linux+, or LPIC-1
  • Active Secret Security Clearance, or the ability to obtain Interim Secret eligibility prior to start
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Extensive experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments
  • Experience with Red Hat Satellite administration
  • Hands-on experience developing automation using Ansible
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with technical teams, users, and others
  • Candidates must reside within commuting distance of Stennis Space Center, MS
  • Available to work on-site 3 days/week

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience supporting High Performance Computing (HPC) or large-scale enterprise environments
  • Experience supporting Department of War (DoW) or other federal government customers
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies and enterprise storage solutions
  • Experience with scripting (Bash, Python, or similar) to automate system administration tasks
