Job Summary
Senior Lighting Designer role leading the creative and technical development of architectural and landscape lighting schemes for interior and exterior projects. Core focus includes designing lighting concepts, producing detailed layouts, calculations and visualisations, developing lighting impact assessments and environmental statements for planning applications, coordinating with planners, engineers, and designers to integrate lighting into masterplans, advising on planning risks and mitigation strategies, presenting proposals to authorities and panels, and mentoring junior designers while upholding technical excellence. The position supports cross-border remote working and offers a flexible hybrid arrangement within a global environmental consultancy with a culture of inclusion and professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in architectural and/or landscape lighting design
- Strong creative vision and ability to translate concepts into technically robust lighting solutions
- In-depth knowledge of lighting design principles, technologies, and industry standards
- Proficiency in relevant lighting design and visualisation software
- Demonstrable experience working within the UK planning system, including preparing lighting impact assessments
- Excellent communication skills for presenting ideas to clients, stakeholders, and planning authorities
- Strong client relationship skills with experience developing and maintaining long-term partnerships
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work independently and in a team
- Mentoring junior designers and maintaining quality standards across planning-related deliverables
