Job Summary
Senior Lighting Artist/Technical Director responsible for designing and implementing lighting pipelines and setups for immersive experiences. Collaborates with Art Directors, VFX Supervisors, and department leads to define lighting tools and rigs for environments, characters, and interactive assets; partners with Render Engineers to define toolsets; supports pipeline development for lightbaking and pre-rendered elements; applies real-time and baked lighting techniques, including lightmap baking, HDR, IBL workflows, and post-processing; works with level designers to animate lighting transitions via blueprint/sequencer; aims for high polish and optimized performance across VR/AR and VR-enabled projects; requires strong portfolio demonstrating lighting skills and familiarity with Unreal/Unity, shader development, and material authoring.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years experience as a lighting TD/artist in 3D game development or animation/VFX film studio
- Strong aesthetic sense for lighting and color theory
- Strong technical understanding of real-time lighting tool sets including atmospheric effects, post processing, color grading and HDR
- Experience with Unreal/Unity or equivalent real-time platform: dynamic and baked lighting workflows, PBR pipelines
- Fluency with Windows, JIRA, Perforce or equivalent
- Excellent communication, organization and problem-solving skills
- Portfolio/reel submission required with all applications
- Proficiency with materials development and organization in game engines (UE4/Unity)
- Ability to work with artists and engineers to optimize lighting for aesthetics and performance
