Job Summary
Senior Legal Manager responsible for drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements including sales, procurement, distribution, logistics, export, and IP-related contracts; provide practical legal advice to support business operations while effectively managing legal and contractual risks; lead and manage litigation and disputes, including overseeing external counsel and settlement strategies; advise on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, licensing, import/export, sanctions, and cross-border legal matters across Southeast Asia; support corporate secretarial matters such as board resolutions, minutes, statutory records, regulatory filings; develop and maintain legal templates, policies, SOPs, and compliance programmes; conduct legal training and drive legal process improvements; partner with Sales, Procurement, Supply Chain, IT, Finance, and other functions.
Required Qualifications
- Qualified lawyer admitted to the Malaysian Bar or another Commonwealth jurisdiction
- Minimum 12 years' post-qualification experience (PQE)
- Combination of experience in a reputable law firm and an in-house legal role within a multinational corporation
- Experience supporting manufacturing and/or FMCG businesses is highly preferred
- Regional legal experience covering Southeast Asian markets
- Strong commercial contracting, corporate governance, compliance, and dispute management experience
- Able to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and provide commercially pragmatic legal advice
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills
- Fluent in English; Mandarin and/or Bahasa Malaysia would be advantageous
