Job Summary
Provide expert legal advice on UK financial services and consumer credit law, payment services, and data protection. Advise on the design, launch, and lifecycle of regulated products including credit accounts, BNPL, and fixed-sum loans. Draft, review, and negotiate commercial and financial services agreements while supporting regulatory change programmes and horizon scanning. Partner with Compliance and Risk to develop policy frameworks, manage regulatory engagements with the FCA, and lead incident management strategies. Mentor junior lawyers and instruct external counsel effectively. This role supports the Legal team's purpose of helping families get more out of life through safe, compliant financial solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales
- strong post-qualification experience (typically 5+ PQE)
- Deep knowledge of UK consumer credit and financial services regulation
- in-house retail FS or top-tier private practice experience
- Proven track record advising on the end-to-end delivery of regulated products and financial promotions in a digital environment
- Excellent drafting and negotiation skills
- adept at turning complex regulation into practical advice
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, data-driven environment with multiple priorities
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- confidence to influence at senior levels
