Job Summary
Senior Legal Counsel in Zurich focused on securities lending and collateral management within a Swiss financial institution. Responsible for drafting and negotiating master agreements for Securities Financing Transactions (SFTs), triparty collateral agreements, trade confirmations, security agreements, and bespoke collateral arrangements; advise on capital markets, asset management, treasury, and balance-sheet matters; ensure compliance with evolving Swiss and global regulatory requirements, including FINMA; perform risk gap assessments and issue legal opinions; draft policies reflecting current regulations; collaborate with Compliance, Credit Risk, Finance, and Asset Management; engage with industry associations and provide updates to senior management and governance committees; fluent in English and German; require 12+ years post-qualification experience and Swiss qualification, with preference for in-house experience and cross-functional leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Swiss-qualified lawyer admitted to practice
- Significant senior-level experience (typically 12+ years post-qualification) in securities lending, repo, collateral management, and ideally derivatives
- Proven drafting and negotiation of financial market agreements (GMRA, GMSLA, CSA)
- Working knowledge of Swiss regulatory framework (FINMA requirements)
- Fluency in English and German
- In-house counsel experience preferred; ability to operate independently and with senior stakeholders
