Job Summary
Investigate, respond to, and mediate agency matters with EEOC, state civil rights divisions, and the Department of Labor. Negotiate pre-litigation claims, handle employee litigation and arbitrations, and review offer letters, agreements, and incentive plans. Provide counseling to Human Resources and subsidiaries on employee performance, discipline, terminations, wage and hour exemptions, disability accommodations, FMLA compliance, benefits, pay equity, and post-termination contractual obligations. This Senior Legal Counsel role supports Samsung Electronics America and North America Headquarters divisions in employment and labor law compliance. The position requires a Juris Doctorate with 7-10+ years of experience and bar membership in good standing.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate degree from accredited US Law School
- 7-10+ years of experience
- Member in good standing of one US state bar
- Ability to become member in good standing of the Texas bar or qualify as in-house counsel in Texas
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience appearing before state and federal agencies on employment matters
- Experience counseling employers on an array of employment and labor related matters
- Demonstrated effectiveness with multiple stakeholders and diverse constituencies
- Executive presence combined with strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to proactively provide sound legal support and exercise good judgment in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
