Job Summary
Senior Legal Counsel, Global Studios responsible for leading negotiations on podcast and presenter agreements, advising on monetisation and distribution deals across Global’s podcast portfolio and related platforms, and supporting commercial activities including licensing, consumer terms, and post-acquisition matters. The role emphasizes end-to-end contract management, governance of templates and processes, and collaboration with creative, commercial, and operational teams to enable growth of Global Studios’ podcast network and monetisation strategy. You’ll act as the go-to legal expert for podcast, talent, and monetisation strategy, negotiating complex contracts from concept to close, while applying regulatory knowledge (including consumer rights law) and leveraging legal technology and AI tools to drive efficiency and risk management. The position offers exposure to high-profile talent engagements, content campaigns, and cross-functional initiatives within the UK and international markets.
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years' PQE as a qualified solicitor
- strong experience in podcasting, media, talent, IP, digital content distribution, advertising and commercial agreements
- experience in music licensing and technology/digital agreements is preferable but not essential
- commercial & media expertise with ability to draft and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements
- experience of consumer-facing terms and consumer rights law is desirable
- strong drafting and negotiation skills across commercial agreements
- pragmatic, solutions-led approach and ability to operate in a fast-paced environment
- stakeholder influence and ability to work with senior stakeholders
- excellent matter management and prioritisation skills
- corporate & transactional experience supporting deals, due diligence and post-completion workstreams is desirable
