Job Summary
Draft, review, and negotiate complex intellectual property agreements covering technology development, licensing, confidentiality, and data rights. Provide legal support for transactional matters including IT, procurement, supply chain, and outsourcing agreements while advising business teams on ownership, use restrictions, and contracting risks. Develop business-oriented strategies to mitigate risks for complex, strategic transactions and lead cross-functional reviews for high-impact matters. Perform legal research on contract terms, market practices, and internal standards, serving as a subject matter resource for IP contracting and licensing. Support continuous improvement of contract templates, playbooks, and negotiation guidance within the Contracts Center of Excellence.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
- Seven (7) years of law firm and/or in-house intellectual property experience in a private, public, government or military environment
- Juris Doctor degree (completed and verified prior to start)
- Member of a United States bar in good standing
- Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status)
- All US-based 3M full time employees will need to sign an employee agreement as a condition of employment with 3M
- Responsibilities of this position include that corporate policies, procedures and security standards are complied with while performing assigned duties

Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited university in math, physics, engineering, science, IT, or equivalent experience
- Knowledge and experience with AI tools and technologies including contracting technologies
- Business acumen and an ability to provide legal advice in the context of strategic business initiatives and goals
- Highly effective written and verbal communications skills, with an ability to communicate and relate at all levels of the organization including business line leaders, regional heads and senior management
- Results-orientated approach; personal and organizational accountability; and a collegial work style
- High energy and a dedication to responsive client service
