Job Summary
Senior Legal Counsel (Commercial Manager) at Kainos, a hybrid role based out of Halifax. You will draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements including customer, supplier, and partner contracts, SaaS agreements, software licensing, and professional services. The role requires a strong understanding of Canadian public sector procurement and contracting; provide practical, business-focused legal advice; support bid teams on contractual terms for tenders and proposals; and collaborate across commercial, finance, delivery, and leadership teams. You will also contribute to contract-template governance and manage/mentor junior team members while maintaining up-to-date knowledge of applicable legislation and industry best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Qualified lawyer who is called to the bar in Canada
- Minimum 8-10 years relevant post-qualification experience in a commercial contracts role
- Extensive experience in commercial contracts within IT Sector
- Strong drafting, communication, and negotiation skills
- Ability to build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent time management, organizational and planning skills
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and make decisions under pressure
- Experience mentoring and coaching team members
