Senior Legal Assistant

Job Summary

Prepare, e-file, and serve correspondence, briefs, motions, pleadings, discovery, and deposition notices for California and federal courts. Maintain attorney calendars based on court notifications and manage scheduling for depositions and other events. Assist attorneys in trial preparation, process invoices, and review electronic mail daily. Manage electronic legal files, case matching, and document production including CD duplication and PDF creation. Offer professional diplomacy during interactions with clients, opposing counsel, and court employees. Requires 5+ years of experience in paperless insurance defense with tort and trial preparation expertise. Remote work supporting the Brea, California office.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Legal Assistant within a paperless insurance defense law office or corporate department
  • Tort experience in personal injury work
  • Experience in a high-volume litigation environment
  • Experience in document production
  • Experience in discovery preparation
  • Experience in Outlook calendar maintenance
  • Experience in data maintenance for clients
  • Strong working knowledge of California Court systems
  • Strong multi-tasking skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Time management skills
  • Proficiency with case management software
  • Strong familiarity with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, OneNote, Teams, & PowerPoint)
  • Ability to meet productivity targets in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, especially regarding prioritizing work activities for multiple attorneys
  • Must be able to manipulate electronic documents such as TIF, PDF and JPG formats

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience as a Legal Assistant within a paperless insurance defense law office or corporate department is highly preferred
  • Trial preparation experience is a plus
