Senior Lean Industrial Engineer

Job Summary

Analyze current laboratory processes to identify automation and lean improvement opportunities. Lead Kaizen events, value stream mapping, and standard work initiatives to eliminate waste and improve flow. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align automation strategies with business objectives and industrialize lab processes. Conduct root cause analysis for process failures, develop tools to quantify labor savings and carbon footprint impact, and monitor key performance indicators related to efficiency and quality. Train staff on lean principles and drive adoption of new technologies through organizational change initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or science
  • Industrial Engineering preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of related experience working on Lean or Process Improvement projects
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
  • Full-time employment
  • Monday-Friday schedule
  • 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. schedule
  • Overtime as needed
  • Expert understanding of Lean methodology and operational excellence principles
  • Formal and on-the-job Lean training
  • 3+ years of successful Lean implementation experience
  • Ability to evaluate complex cross-functional processes, identify improvement opportunities, and develop strategic recommendations
  • Advanced ability to analyze complex datasets, develop dashboards, identify trends, and communicate business impact
  • Expert problem-solving skills utilizing Lean tools, root cause analysis, and structured problem-solving methodologies
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Visio, Power BI, and project management tools
  • Strong project management skills with demonstrated success leading multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders without direct authority
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with experience directing teams, facilitating workshops, and managing multiple resources
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and execute responsibilities with minimal direction
  • Ability to align Lean initiatives with site, business, and organizational strategy
  • Ability to quantify labor savings, ROI, productivity gains, cost avoidance, and waste reduction from improvement initiatives
  • Evaluates automation opportunities, develops business cases, and collaborates with technical teams on implementation strategies
  • Exceptional organizational and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Champions quality, ethics, compliance, and customer-focused continuous improvement initiatives
  • Demonstrated resilience, adaptability, and ability to lead through organizational change

Desired Qualifications

  • Lean Certification by an accredited body preferred
