Job Summary
Senior Lead Substation Project Engineer to lead and oversee design, development, and construction of electrical substations and related infrastructure. Responsibilities include oversight of data collection and analysis from sites, coordination and approval of electrical infrastructure designs, applying high-level electrical engineering techniques across project phases (concept, preliminary, final design, procurement, construction, operation), conducting complex investigations of site conditions, preparing construction plans and cost estimates, guiding project inception to completion, and mentoring staff. Requires strong knowledge of IEEE, NESC, ANSI, NERC standards, and experience with design software (CADD, ETAP, WIN IGS, Aspen, etc.), plus a professional engineer license and 10+ years of relevant experience. Must be able to coordinate with clients, regulators, and multidisciplinary teams, and be willing to travel as needed. This role offers on-site, hybrid, or remote work arrangements depending on location and business needs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
- 10+ years of post-education experience as an electrical engineer in power generation/transmission/distribution
- Engineer license required (multi-state preferred)
- Proficiency in electrical engineering principles and design software
- Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and program/construction management
- Strong knowledge of electrical construction laws, codes, and regulations
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to coordinate with subcontractors and teams
- Travel flexibility when required
