Job Summary
Senior Lead Software Engineer- Squad Lead role leads a squad of engineers to design, implement and maintain the payments area of the Invest Tribe within Chase UK; line-manage the squad, conduct thorough code reviews, contribute hands-on coding for key features, mentor engineers, collaborate with product managers and stakeholders, facilitate team meetings and retrospectives, design robust scalable solutions with Technical Leads and Principal engineers, operate with a data-driven mindset to track metrics across delivery, systems health and customer journeys, and foster a culture of high-quality engineering and best practices. Requires formal training or certification in team management, extensive JVM experience, expertise with microservices, cloud, event-driven architectures, and strong people-management capabilities, with a business-driven and progressive mindset.
Required Qualifications
- Formal training or certification on team management concepts
- Proficient advanced experience in team management
- Great team player with strong technical background
- Business-driven mentality and ability to translate business requirements into engineering solutions
- Progressive mindset with willingness to challenge the status quo
- Extensive experience with a JVM language
- Extensive experience in automating deployment, releases and testing in CI/CD pipelines
- Proven track record in designing and operating microservices using Cloud technology and event-driven architectures
- Strong people management qualities focused on acquiring, retaining, and growing talent
- Ability to collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to align technical efforts with business goals
- Experience leading hands-on coding and delivering features with code reviews and best practices
