Senior (Lead) Large Loads Solutions Engineer

Job Summary

Lead technical discussions and value propositions with hyperscalers, colocation providers, and AIDC developers as the primary technical owner for large loads opportunities. Develop hybrid system designs with controls and dispatch strategies, progressing to 30% design packages including site layouts and single-line diagrams. Lead technical components of RFI/RFPs by determining optimal system configurations, sizing, and Bill of Materials for BESS, PCS, and transformers. Support modeling and grid simulations to demonstrate solutions for load smoothing, voltage ride-through, and frequency support. Define strategies for large load applications and prepare techno-economic models optimizing revenue and technical constraints. Partner with business development to draft technical exhibits for offtake agreements and develop internal and external-facing documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field
  • A minimum of 5 years in technical sales, applications engineering or systems engineering in renewable energy or critical power industry
  • Direct experience in data center power systems
  • Preference to be based in one of GridStor's hub offices in Portland, Los Angeles or Denver
  • Preference to work a hybrid schedule
  • Exceptional organizational abilities with keen attention to detail
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment and seeing delegated projects through to completion
  • Ability to be agile and flexible, readily taking on tasks outside the typical scope of the role as needed
  • Proven ability to handle highly confidential information with utmost discretion
  • Strong track record of excellent judgment and integrity in previous roles
  • Proficiency in AutoCad, Bluebeam, or SKM for electrical design
  • Experience in dynamic grid modeling (PSCAD or similar)
  • Understanding of industry best practices for designing and building utility-scale energy storage projects
  • Knowledge of codes and standards as it relates to data centers / large loads design including grid interconnect
  • Proven track record of supporting successful B2B contract negotiations, RFI/RFP's and customer-facing presentations
  • Excellent verbal and written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively work with cross functional stakeholders
  • Adaptable, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and approach challenges with a creative, proactive mindset
  • Highly motivated to support and collaborate with team members, contributing to collective success

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's degree
  • Experience in dynamic grid modeling (PSCAD or similar) highly beneficial
