Job Summary
Senior Lead - Embedded QA Engineer responsible for analyzing system requirements and designing, developing, and executing manual and automated tests to ensure high product quality. Will participate in all QA lifecycle phases, including analysis, estimation, planning, execution, and release. Key responsibilities include validating new product development and sustaining programs, developing test cases from requirements, driving automation for firmware and software applications in the Building & Industrial Systems domain, and delivering quality across embedded and software systems. Requires hands-on experience with embedded testing, multiple communication protocols (I2C, SPI, RS232, RS485, TCP/IP, BACnet, Modbus), automation tooling, SDLC/Agile practices, defect management, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. Familiarity with HVAC domain and hardware simulators, and proficiency with electrical test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers) are desired. The role emphasizes leadership, execution of test planning and results presentation, and contributing to product/process improvements in Carrier’s hardware/software environment.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience in testing complex embedded systems, specifically within HVAC/Industrial Automation domains
- Proficiency in manual and automated test execution for firmware and software applications
- Experience in automation testing and hands-on development of automation frameworks
- Experience with testing communications protocols (I2C, SPI, RS232, RS485, TCP/IP, BACnet, Modbus)
- Strong defect reporting, configuration management, and test documentation skills
- Ability to create/manual test cases and automation scripts, present test results, and drive product quality
- Familiarity with SDLC/Agile methodologies and QA lifecycle
- Proficiency with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, ADO or Rally
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis capabilities
- Ability to participate in design reviews and contribute to process improvements
- Willingness to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
