Job Summary
Perform functional, compatibility, and dimensional inspection of components and finished products initiated through Field Sales, Customer Service, or Product Development. Document and report all observations and results to the originator of lab requests. Set up and monitor compatibility tests with customer products, measure parts according to standard operating procedures, and devise new testing methods for partially assembled and complete units. Communicate with sales and marketing via telephone, instant message, email, or report, and assist product development engineers with testing of new projects. Maintain files and records, interpret simple blueprints, and assist in making product development samples when needed. This role involves approximately 65% testing duties and 35% communication and support tasks.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree (A.A.) preferred
- Two (2) to four (4) years related experience and/or training
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Basic computer skills to include working with Microsoft Office and Windows based programs
- Proficient in the operation or use of the following equipment: balance scale, stereo and video microscope, torque tester, laboratory gauges, calipers and micrometers, viscometer, drill press, arbor press and customized equipment used for testing
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to communicate with customers and other stakeholders
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Regularly required to stand, walk, talk and hear
- Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and sit, bend, stoop, twist, kneel, squat, or crawl
