Job Summary
Senior Lab Support Assistant - Oncology role supporting Hematology and Oncology patients. Primary duties include processing laboratory specimens for patient care, assisting with bone marrow biopsies, and preparing slides from bone marrow specimens across multiple settings. Responsibilities include specimen handling, proper specimen storage, test ordering, ensuring test availability, adhering to specimen requirements, and distributing patient specimens for laboratory testing. Maintains QA/QC of laboratory equipment in compliance with regulatory agencies, manages information related to patient specimens, and provides technical and clerical support with precise attention to detail. Delivers client service communications with internal and external customers. Must demonstrate initiative, teamwork, flexibility, and professional behavior. Preferred qualifications include customer service experience, post-secondary education in a lab or health-related field, medical terminology knowledge, and strong computer skills.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum two years of experience in a laboratory setting
- High school education or equivalent
- Demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills
- Ability to demonstrate initiative, teamwork, and flexibility
- Demonstrate behavioral skills that contribute to a productive work environment and represent the lab in a professional manner
