Job Summary
Senior Lab Pack Chemist responsible for handling hazardous materials, inventorying, identifying, segregating, and packaging waste in accordance with Lab Pack policies; performing onsite services including waste collection, bulking, sampling, and safety/compliance inspections; preparing shipment of packaged waste and completing shipping documents; maintaining CDL Hazmat endorsement; promoting safety plans and JSA procedures; conducting unknown field testing, mentoring new employees, leading field service/lab pack jobs, assisting in scheduling and staff training; travel up to 20% overnight; requires OSHA HAZWOPER, DOT training, and Depack experience; location: San Jose, CA; full-time role with competitive benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in general science (BS preferred)
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Hazardous Material endorsement and a clear record
- 20% overnight travel
- Physical ability to lift and move materials frequently exceeding 55 lbs
- Basic understanding of chemistry
- Advanced knowledge of EPA and DOT
- Minimum two (2) years lab pack experience
- 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER
- 8 hours DOT Training
- PPE Training including Respirators
- 40 hours Depack Experience
- CDL B to be obtained within 6 months of start date
- Successful completion of a DOT physical and DOT Drug Screen
