Job Summary
Senior Kubernetes Software Engineer on the Multicloud Runtime team responsible for designing and implementing highly available, cost-efficient, and secure multi-cloud Kubernetes solutions and cloud services. Develop full-stack software and Kubernetes controllers in Go, Python, and TypeScript; write automated tests and health checks; design modular infrastructure deployment patterns using Kustomize, Helm, and Terraform; collaborate across disciplines to deliver customer value; mentor junior engineers; and advise on Kubernetes best practices and architecture. The role emphasizes cloud-native platform engineering across AWS, GCP, and other providers, with emphasis on security, scalability, and reliability. Location: Tokyo; collaboration across teams and time zones with English proficiency required and Japanese language fluency preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience developing and maintaining a large-scale Kubernetes cloud platform in an enterprise environment using configuration tools like Kustomize or Helm
- Advanced knowledge of Kubernetes infrastructure and security, including service meshes such as Istio
- Significant experience developing with IaC (Infrastructure as Code) using technologies such as Terraform or Ansible
- 5+ years experience developing highly available cloud platforms on cloud providers such as AWS or GCP
- 5+ years of experience in backend software development using languages such as Go or Python
- Experience creating CI/CD automation workflows using tools such as Github Actions or Jenkins
- Working knowledge of cloud security and networking best practices
- Working proficiency in English
- Fluent in Japanese
