Senior Kubernetes Engineer

Job Summary
As a Senior Kubernetes Engineer at Schuberg Philis, you will administrate, monitor, and manage customer Kubernetes clusters running on Amazon EKS across Development, Testing, Acceptance, and Production (DTAP) environments. You are responsible for ensuring stability, security, and scalability of clusters while driving automation and supporting incident responses. Key responsibilities include performing maintenance and troubleshooting of Kubernetes deployments, implementing monitoring and logging solutions, automating tasks with Infrastructure-as-Code, managing change processes, and enforcing security best practices. Ideal candidates should have at least 2 years of Kubernetes management experience in production, particularly with AWS, and proficiency in IaC, GitOps, and CI/CD workflows.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience managing Kubernetes cluster lifecycles
- Proven experience operating Kubernetes in production environments on public clouds, especially AWS
- Strong proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Git and GitOps workflows, and self-hosted CI/CD pipelines
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with tools such as Karpenter, Cilium, Kyverno, or External Secrets Operator (ESO)
- Experience developing custom Kubernetes Operators
- Hands-on experience with observability tools such as Datadog or Grafana
- Programming and scripting proficiency in Bash, Go, or Python
