Job Summary
Senior Juvenile Probation Officer in the Florida DJJ system leads case management, referrals, and assessments for youth; conducts home/school visits, engages victims, and applies Motivational Interviewing to determine needs; reviews collateral information, completes risk/needs assessments, and develops case plans; coordinates service referrals with mental health, education, and community providers; participates in court processes, testifies as needed, and prepares court-related documentation; maintains records in JJIS, collaborates with schools, law enforcement, and community organizations, and participates in transitional planning and supervision strategies; oversees staff, interns, and volunteers, and provides crisis intervention and restorative justice activities as part of a comprehensive supervision and community-support approach.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of case management practices
- Knowledge of interviewing and counseling techniques
- Ability to provide counseling and guidance to others
- Ability to conduct and document fact-finding interviews
- Ability to make recommendations concerning the processing, handling and disposition of delinquent youth
- Ability to develop case plans
- Ability to coordinate case assignments for multi-problem clients
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments
- Ability to supervise, lead and motivate people
- Ability to determine work priorities
