Job Summary
Senior Java Backend Engineer contract role (2-month contractor model) responsible for designing and implementing scalable, fault-tolerant backend services using Microservices and Hexagonal Architecture on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). Will collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions, lead code reviews, contribute to architecture and platform evolution, and mentor engineers. Requires 6+ years Java backend experience, Spring Boot/WebFlux, cloud experience (Azure), Docker/Kubernetes, databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL/DynamoDB), caching (Redis/Memcached), observability (Datadog/Prometheus/Grafana), and strong English communication.
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years of professional experience in Java backend development
- 2+ years of hands-on experience with Spring Boot and Spring WebFlux
- Strong experience designing Microservices architectures and distributed systems
- Solid understanding of Hexagonal Architecture (Ports & Adapters)
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB)
- Familiarity with Redis or Memcached
- Hands-on experience with Azure cloud services (AKS, App Service, Application Gateway, Storage Account)
- Strong experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Exposure to CI/CD tools (Git, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Terraform)
- Secure coding practices, authentication flows, and encryption fundamentals
- Observing/Monitoring tools (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana)
- Experience with SaaS platforms or high-volume transactional systems (eCommerce or fintech)
- Experience with Kafka, GraphQL, gRPC, Elasticsearch (Nice to have)
- 2+ years mentoring engineers, leading initiatives, or owning critical services
- Advanced English proficiency for collaboration with US-based teams
