Job Summary
Senior Investigative Trading Analyst conducts preliminary investigations of possible violations of UMIR and Canadian securities laws. Responsibilities include performing initial assessments, writing concise preliminary investigation reports with conclusions, reviewing complaints to determine if further review is warranted, coaching and supervising Investigative Trading Analysts, supporting development of monitoring tools and systems, participating in regulatory reviews and initiative committees, and assisting the Manager with case assessments and coverage. The role supports ongoing professional development and may involve collaboration on projects across CIRO, with a hybrid work environment.
Desired Qualifications
- Bilingual in French and English, written and spoken
- Knowledge of investigative practices and methods, extensive knowledge of the securities industry, including securities regulations and regulatory framework, trading systems, and trading practices
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and writing skills
- Clear and effective writing style, with strong attention to detail
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills an asset
- Strong presentation skills
- Extensive knowledge of Canadian equities and derivatives markets
- Extensive knowledge of trading systems and trading practices
