Job Summary
The Senior Interconnection Engineer plays a critical technical role in utility-scale solar and battery storage projects, leading interconnection studies, performing advanced power flow modeling, and coordinating with utilities and ISOs. Responsibilities include managing projects across all lifecycle phases, conducting transmission analysis, supporting interconnection applications, reviewing agreements, and providing mentorship to junior engineers. Candidates must possess strong analytical skills, experience in the power industry, and familiarity with interconnection processes, particularly within ERCOT and/or MISO markets.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus in power systems or Computer Engineering
- Two plus (2+) years of experience in transmission planning, interconnection studies, or power market analysis within the power industry
- Ability to independently perform interconnection and transmission analyses with limited supervision
- Familiarity with interconnection processes, particularly within ERCOT and/or MISO markets
- Working knowledge of reliability, stability, congestion, curtailment, and LMP concepts
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet project deadlines
Desired Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with PowerWorld, PSSE, PLEXOS, or other power flow and PCM software
- Programming experience, particularly with Python
- Familiarity with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
