Job Summary

Senior Instrument Engineering Technician responsible for owning manufacturing processes on assigned lines, including safety, delivery, quality, and cost. Performs assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of instrument production lines; collaborates with Manufacturing Operators to meet weekly production goals; troubleshoots electronic circuits, PCBs, mechanical systems, and integrated electromechanical systems including software; supports process engineering activities (Deviation Waivers, Quality Notification, Repair/Re-work forms, Out of Tolerance findings); trains production associates on assembly/test procedures; works with Engineers to solve design/manufacturing challenges; identifies continuous improvement opportunities and conducts feasibility tests; revises and validates procedures; provides engineering support for instrument/sub-assembly production under guidance; adheres to Good Manufacturing Practices and BD Quality Standards; requires in-office presence with at least 4 days per week on-site; vaccination/testing policies may apply. Location: Sparks, MD USA.

Required Qualifications

  • Two year Associates degree in mechanical or electronics or relevant degree.
  • Robotics experience preferred.
  • Must demonstrate capability to test for highly complex electromechanical instruments.
  • Must demonstrate capability to communicate clearly through verbal and written communication to support process engineering team.
  • Proven ability and accountability to results and to improve performance and processes across a team, work cell, or project.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to manage time across multiple production orders and processes within allotted time standards.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to lead quality, CI, and System reviews including root cause analysis and providing solutions to a wide range of production and system issues.
  • Proficiency in system Performance analysis and comprehension.
  • Proven leadership skills capability and ability to mentor, coach, and develop other associates.
  • Must demonstrate a strong ability and commitment to Continuous Improvement.
  • Fundamental knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and software tools (i.e. oscilloscope, OEM software, torque drivers, gauges, bits, etc.)
  • Expert in reading drawings, interpreting and measuring dimensions, requirements, etc.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a team setting to reach common goals.
  • Experience and Performance as the SME for complex instruments and ability to work with minimal support from Engineers/Technicians.
  • Ability to train associates on testing complex systems, conducting repair activities, and conduct complex trouble shooting.
