Job Summary
Senior Instrument Engineer role providing instrument engineering support to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of Morecambe Hub instrumentation and related equipment. responsibilities include optimizing preventive and predictive maintenance in collaboration with maintenance and operations teams, troubleshooting equipment issues, conducting root cause analysis, implementing corrective actions, ensuring compliance with codes/standards (API, ASME, ISO, DNV, local regulations), supporting inspection and condition monitoring programs, contributing to capital projects and modifications (specifications, design reviews, commissioning), reviewing instrumentation work scopes and method statements, overseeing contractors and vendors, supporting turnaround, commissioning and start-up activities, participating in safety studies and risk assessments (HAZOP, HAZIDs, LOPA), supporting change management, and maintaining technical documentation. Qualifications emphasize a degree-level education with prefered MEng in relevant engineering fields, substantial experience in oil and gas operations, strong instrumentation knowledge, and adherence to safety/corporate values. The role operates on a 2-year CONTRACT basis with a hybrid office pattern (4 days in office; Tuesday-Thursday mandatory in-office; Monday or Friday optional) in Barrow-in-Furness, UK, PAYE day rate, with no travel or accommodation allowance, and requires existing UK right-to-work status.
Required Qualifications
- Degree-level education (preferably MEng in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Control Engineering, Automation Engineering, or similar)
- Experience with onshore and offshore oil and gas operations, maintenance, and asset integrity practices
- Strong knowledge of instrumentation used in oil and gas production facilities
- Maintenance strategies and reliability engineering
- Offshore safety case and permit-to-work systems
- Industry standards (API, ASME, ISO, DNV where applicable)
- Chartered Engineer preferable
