Job Summary
Senior Infrastructure Engineer at SSR Total IT to serve as a trusted technical advisor to clients within Infrastructure & Security Engineering. You’ll own the stability, security, and long-term improvement of client environments including networks, servers, cloud platforms, and security systems; lead migrations, upgrades, virtualization, and infrastructure projects; design/implement servers, security, networking, backups, and cloud platforms; support and architect Microsoft 365 and Azure; lead client-facing projects and provide guidance to a team of engineers. The role emphasizes hands-on technical leadership, cross-client ownership, and direct collaboration with business stakeholders across Wisconsin.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years experience supporting complex IT infrastructure environments across multiple clients/sites/business units
- Deep Windows Server and Active Directory expertise (design, administration, troubleshooting; 2016/2019/2022)
- Advanced networking skills (VLAN design, VPN architecture, firewall policy management, switching)
- Hands-on Microsoft 365 and Azure experience (tenant administration, Entra ID, Exchange Online)
- Strong virtualization experience (VMware and/or Hyper-V; deployment, management, migrations)
- Ability to lead infrastructure projects end-to-end with minimal oversight
- Confident, client-facing communication; trusted technical advisor to business stakeholders
- Hardware experience (HP, Dell, Meraki, Cisco)
- Experience working in MSP or multi-client consulting environments (preferred)
- Backup/DR tools exposure (Veeam, Datto)
- Security tools exposure (SentinelOne, KnowBe4, Duo, Qualys, Greenbone)
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks (HIPAA, CMMC, NIST, PCI)
- Active certifications (Azure Administrator, Security+, VMware VCP, Cisco/Meraki or equivalent)
- Experience with TOC collaborations and cross-team coordination
- Ability to own outcomes end-to-end and influence solution design
