Job Summary
Senior Industrial Systems Designer responsible for designing, developing, and documenting advanced plant systems for Electra’s pilot and industrial-scale operations. Focus on integrating robust mechanical systems, 3D modeling-based layouts, and coordinating with process/controls engineers, equipment suppliers, and contractors during installation, startup, and commissioning. Produce detailed GA drawings and isometrics, manage CAD data and PDM/Vault workflows, ensure safety and ergonomic considerations, and deliver cost-effective, scalable solutions for complex industrial environments including processing, mining, minerals, oil & gas, or chemical processing contexts. Lead internal projects, mentor junior team members, and drive collaboration across disciplines to support fast-paced, high-growth initiatives. Knowledge of AutoCAD P&ID/Plant 3D, SolidWorks, and integration of automation hardware, controls systems, and robotics into industrial designs is required. Anticipated compensation range is $100k-$150k with comprehensive benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Design with 10+ years of progressively complex experience in plant design, systems integration, and industrial equipment layout
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 8+ years of relevant professional experience (excluding internships, co-ops, and academic projects)
- Advanced experience developing complex industrial system designs, equipment layouts, and integrated plant solutions within processing, manufacturing, chemical, minerals, or similar industrial environments
- Proficiency creating 3D equipment layouts, GA drawings, and pipe, tube, and duct routing using SolidWorks or similar CAD platforms
- Experience designing skid-mounted systems, processing equipment, tanks, vessels, structural frames, and integrated mechanical systems
- Demonstrated ability to integrate automation hardware, controls systems, and robotics into industrial mechanical designs
- Strong understanding of human factors, ergonomics, operational safety, and industrial design best practices
- Ability to apply advanced technical knowledge to develop practical, scalable, and cost-effective engineering solutions
- Proven ability to lead internal projects, mentor junior team members, and influence stakeholders in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- Experience with AutoCAD P&ID, Plant 3D, or similar plant design software
- Experience supporting EPC activities during production scale-up
- Experience applying safety and human-factor design principles in industrial environments
- SolidWorks experience with PDM/Vault workflows
- Experience working in startup/pilot plant/rapid-growth technical environments
- Background in mining, oil & gas, chemical processing, or power generation facilities
- Experience integrating automation hardware, controls, or robotics into industrial designs
- Experience with 3D layouts and routing within processing/manufacturing environments
