Job Summary
Translate business needs into actionable strategies, managing the full cycle from RFP development to vendor selection and contract finalization. Conduct comprehensive market research and spend analysis to establish procurement best practices, while designing and implementing robust policies and workflows to support organizational scaling. Collaborate with diverse business units to align complex interests and drive cross-functional projects to success, leveraging expertise to lead strategic initiatives and mentor junior buyers. This role operates within the Indirect Sourcing Group, which manages centralized procurement for marketing, BPO, and office supplies across the Rakuten ecosystem. The position requires 5-7 years of sourcing experience, native-level Japanese fluency, and TOEIC 800+ proficiency.
Required Qualifications
- 5-7 years of hands-on sourcing or procurement experience
- Native-level fluency in Japanese
- Proven track record of driving consensus among diverse stakeholders to lead complex projects to successful completion
- Ability to autonomously manage multiple concurrent projects while effectively prioritizing tasks
- Exceptional proficiency in creating high-impact PowerPoint presentations and delivering persuasive proposals
- Strong data analysis capabilities in Excel (e.g., spend analysis using pivot tables)
- TOEIC score of 800+ (or equivalent certification, or a degree from a university in an English-speaking country)
- Valid score or certificate for English proficiency to be submitted by the time of the offer
Desired Qualifications
- Indirect sourcing experience, especially experience in Marketing, BPO or Office & Facility categories
- Experience in establishment of Procurement rules and its execution
- Knowledge of contract law and compliance
- Experience in project management or consulting
