Job Summary
Ensure compliance with all U.S. Customs and Border Protection regulations and applicable Partner Government Agency requirements. Assign Harmonized Tariff classifications and country of origin determinations for imported merchandise. Oversee customs brokers and freight forwarders to maintain compliant import operations. Partner with Program Management, Procurement, and Legal teams to resolve customs-related issues and support duty savings initiatives. Manage sensitive export-controlled information and train personnel across the organization. Requires a Bachelor's degree, 5+ years in trade compliance within aerospace or defense, and an active U.S. Customs Broker License. Full-time regular employees receive a bonus and equity; temporary staff receive benefits after 60 days.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in international business, Supply Chain, Legal Studies, Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in trade compliance within aerospace, defense, or high-tech industries
- Working knowledge of HTS classification, customs valuation, and import processes
- Ability to manage sensitive and export-controlled information (ITAR/EAR Technical Data)
- Strong communication skills and ability to train personnel across the organization
Desired Qualifications
- Active U.S. Customs Broker License
- Knowledge of Free Trade Agreements (USMCA and others)
- Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations (19 CFR)
- Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTSUS)
- Customs valuation
- Country of origin determination
- Experience working with UAV systems, defense articles, avionics, or controlled software
- Background in program management, logistics, or engineering support roles
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to balance regulatory compliance with operational needs
- High integrity and sound judgment in handling compliance matters
- Proactive mindset with ability to work independently and cross functionally
