Job Summary
Senior Image Data Scientist to design, develop, validate, document, and operate image-analysis pipelines and visualization solutions for biomedical imaging research. Works closely with investigators, software engineers, data scientists, imaging facility scientists, and biostatisticians to translate scientific questions into reproducible, scalable analysis workflows using modern image-analysis, statistical, computer-vision, and machine-learning approaches. Supports image data management, maintains analysis software and repositories, evaluates new methods/tools, and provides technical consultation and training to research teams. Serves as project lead to coordinate image-analysis efforts, align related projects, and contribute to shared CBI infrastructure that supports routine and advanced bioimage analysis.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative/computational field required (applied mathematics, physics, chemistry, bioinformatics, computer science, data science, computer engineering)
- 3+ years of work experience in relevant area (image analyses, image data management, programming in Python, R, Matlab, Java, C/C++) or Master's degree with 1+ years of relevant experience
- Experience developing, validating, and maintaining image-analysis pipelines for biological or medical imaging data
- Experience with image analysis platforms (e.g., ImageJ/Fiji, CellProfiler) and scientific computing
- Strong programming skills in Python and experience with modern computer vision, ML, deep learning, or statistical image-analysis methods
- Experience with scalable/reproducible scientific workflows (Snakemake, Nextflow), containers, version control, HPC or cloud environments
- Familiarity with open-source bioimage tooling (napari, ImageJ/Fiji, Cellpose, SAM-family, QuPath, BioFormats, OME-Zarr/NGFF)
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with research teams, write user-facing documentation, and provide training
- Evidence of technical leadership (leading multi-lab projects, contributing to shared infrastructure, publishing methods)
- Minimum education and training: Bachelor's required; Master’s preferred
