Job Summary
Prepare process flow diagrams (PFD), piping & instrument diagrams (P&ID), equipment layouts, and plot plans for plant, pipeline, and facility construction projects. Assist in developing project scopes, coordinating design packages with stakeholders, and communicating with vendors for material quotes and availability. Create parts lists through material take-offs, generate material data sheets, and submit requisitions to project managers. Provide drafting support for time-sensitive projects, review man hour estimates, and maintain records of technical design issues. Coordinate with Project Managers, contractors, and inspectors to ensure linear project progress.
Required Qualifications
- 10 years relevant work experience in a Project Engineering environment
- Experience in CADD drafting software, processes, methods, or systems
- Experience in specifying appropriate equipment for engineering projects
- Knowledge of process flow diagrams (PFD) and piping & instrument diagrams (P&ID)
- Design and drafting skills
- Knowledge of facility layouts and plot plans
- Material take-off and parts listing experience
- Material data sheet development
- Material requisition preparation
- Vendor communication and coordination skills
- Project coordination and stakeholder communication
- Ability to review man hour estimates and work schedules
- Technical documentation and record maintenance
- Knowledge of construction and engineering scopes of work
- Coordination with Project Managers, contractors, inspectors, and purchasing agents
- Understanding of technical design issues and construction processes
- Ability to manage time / budget critical projects
- Knowledge of company standard drawings and drafting procedures
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to provide technical guidance and support
- Proficiency with CADD drafting systems
- Willingness and ability to travel as required
- 2 year college drafting degree, or technical school training, or equivalent
