Job Summary
Diagnose, repair, maintain, and service commercial and industrial HVAC systems including chillers, boilers, rooftop units, and air handlers across multiple federal facilities. Perform advanced troubleshooting and preventive maintenance while prioritizing a multi-site work order queue that balances routine schedules with emergency repairs. Travel extensively to inspect and calibrate thermostats, controls, and building automation systems, ensuring compliance with EPA refrigerant handling regulations. Document all activities in a CMMS and coordinate with facility engineering staff on capital repair recommendations. Mentor junior technicians and maintain a fully stocked service vehicle for multi-day regional travel. Requires 5+ years of HVAC experience, EPA Section 608 certification, and a valid driver's license.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of HVAC/HVACR experience with proven work on commercial and industrial systems
- Current EPA Section 608 Universal Certification
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively and obtain required federal facility access credentials
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Ability to meet physical demands of the job (lifting, climbing, working in varied conditions)
Desired Qualifications
- Journeyman HVAC license or equivalent trade certification preferred
- NATE certification or manufacturer training
- Experience with building automation or advanced controls
- Prior work on federal or large institutional facilities
