Senior HVAC Chiller Service Technician

Job Summary

Perform routine and unscheduled maintenance and repair of industrial mechanical systems, including air cooled and centrifugal chillers, pumps, cooling towers, and variable air volume systems. Diagnose and repair machine defects in electronic, mechanical, and electrical components, obtain replacement parts, calibrate systems per manufacturer recommendations, and explain issues and corrective actions to customers. Oversee installation and operation of various mechanical systems while leading the development of training, materials, and tools for the chiller/HVAC maintenance business. Maintain company vehicles, manage documentation for all services, and coordinate scheduling and service updates with customers, dispatch, and managers. Be available for rotating nights or weekends to service emergency customer needs. Work in diverse field conditions including customer sites, mechanical equipment rooms, and extreme weather.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must have valid driver's license with good driving record
  • Must have current HVAC certification
  • Must have OSHA 10 Training
  • Previous experience of 5+ years in chiller/HVAC maintenance, mechanical engineering, or other related fields
  • Familiarity with manufacturing designs or schematics
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Good analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to train junior technicians
  • Excellent customer service skills with desire to exceed customer expectations
  • Ability to work independently in a timely manner, making sure job is done correctly the first time
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft office software
  • Working proficiency with hand held computer (i.e. Smartphone, iPad)
  • Electrical knowledge
  • Must be able to climb, crawl, stoop, kneel
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
