Job Summary
Manage the daily workflow of the HR department, supervising two team members in San Francisco while drafting and reviewing policies and overseeing DEIAB initiatives. Identify employee developmental needs to coach and mentor staff, then proactively monitor federal, state, and local labor law changes to ensure organizational compliance. Analyze compensation trends to propose competitive pay programs, create learning and development initiatives, and modify budgets. Provide guidance on complex union and non-union issues, oversee data collection, and maintain the integrity of employee files. Act as a liaison with external benefits providers and vendors, identify process gaps to improve efficiency, and support the Senior Director on assigned projects. This exempt role requires a hybrid schedule of two in-office days per week and up to 10% travel.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 8 years of experience working in human resources
- A minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience
- A college or university degree or possess knowledge equivalent to a 4-year degree from a college or university
- Comfortable in all aspects of HR, including but not limited to employee relations, recruiting, administration, benefits, compensation, compliance, and staff development
- A willingness to work closely with and learn from colleagues, including being willing to take direction and editing from others, and to incorporate feedback

Desired Qualifications
- SHRM or HRCI certification
- Experience working in a union environment
- Training, teaching, or other public speaking experience
