Senior Human Resources Generalist

Job Summary
Conduct thorough, documented investigations into employee complaints and policy violations from intake through resolution, escalating high-risk matters to the HR Director. Manage end-to-end leaves of absence including FMLA, CFRA, PDL, ADA accommodations, Colorado FAMLI, and workers' compensation coordination. Serve as the first point of contact for employee and manager concerns, providing coaching, conflict resolution, and guidance grounded in policy and employment law. Interpret and apply company policies consistently while maintaining meticulous, confidential records of all employee relations matters. Support supervisors with corrective action plans and performance improvement plans, ensuring documentation standards are defensible. Partner with the Compliance Coordinator on personnel-file and survey-readiness matters, and support offboarding processes including exit interviews. Travel occasionally during the workday and on overnight stays, with compensation provided for mileage, food, and lodging.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 4–6 years of progressive HR generalist experience, including direct ownership of investigations and leave administration
- Working knowledge of California employment law
- Written and oral communication skills sufficient to perform essential functions
- Demonstrated ability to make decisions independently and use initiative to accomplish complex assignments with general instruction and guidance
- Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment and integrity on the job with confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy
- Demonstrated ability to organize time and other resources to perform multiple tasks
- Demonstrated ability to complete work accurately and in a timely manner with attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to work well with others and to provide effective team leadership
- Proficiency in word processing and database and/or spreadsheet applications
- Physical and mental attributes sufficient to perform essential functions
- Demonstrated ability to recognize merit, excellence and intelligence in staff and potential employees
- Valid Driver's License
Desired Qualifications
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification
- Familiarity with Colorado employment law
- Experience working with culturally diverse individuals and communities or have otherwise demonstrated a commitment to strengthening engagement of a diverse community and skill in communicating with diverse populations
- Familiarity with equity and/or diversity initiatives within an organization
- Prior HR experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or another licensed/regulated environment
- Proficient in English Language
- Proficient communicator
