Job Summary
Senior HR Generalist serves as a subject matter expert in employee benefits, leave administration, and HR compliance. Administers benefit programs, manages employee leave processes, and ensures compliance with federal and state employment laws. Partners with employees, leaders, vendors, payroll, and HR colleagues to deliver a high-quality employee experience while mitigating organizational risk. Responsibilities include administering all employee benefit programs (medical, dental, vision, life, disability, HSA, FSA, retirement, voluntary benefits), handling benefit inquiries and escalations, managing enrollments and qualifying life events, leading annual open enrollment, maintaining broker/carrier relationships, monitoring plan performance and suggesting cost-containment strategies, administering and overseeing leave programs (FMLA, ADA, workers’ compensation, paid family leave, state-specific leaves), and providing backup support for HR Coordinator duties (payroll processing, onboarding). Skills emphasize benefits administration, regulatory knowledge (FMLA, ADA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA), HR compliance, data analysis, UKG Pro, Microsoft Excel, and strong communication. The role offers a hybrid schedule with two in-office days per week and flexibility for remote work on other days; location is Buffalo, New York.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience
- Demonstrated experience in benefits administration and leave management required
- Experience supporting a multi-state workforce strongly preferred
- Experience managing audits and regulatory reporting preferred
- Deep knowledge of FMLA, ADA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, and applicable employment laws
- Strong understanding of HR compliance and regulatory requirements
- Experience with UKG Pro preferred
- Advanced analytical capabilities with ability to interpret HR, benefits, leave, and payroll data
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office tools
