Job Summary
Serve as the HR point of contact for employees and management in a unionized environment, ensuring compliance with the collective bargaining agreement and fostering positive labor relations. Provide guidance on interpreting CBA terms, labor laws, and company policies while conducting investigations into workplace concerns including disciplinary matters. Utilize data and analytics to drive business insight for staffing decisions and maintain appropriate union staffing levels. Support full-cycle recruitment, including facilitating on-site union orientations, and determine eligibility for FMLA, NJFLA, ADA, and NJ State Disability programs. Maintain accurate and confidential HR records related to grievances and labor relations activities. This role collaborates with managers, the union, and the HR team to align strategic priorities within the New Jersey Vehicle Inspection & Compliance program.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 10 + years of progressive HR experience that includes employee relations, performance management, labor relations and HR within a unionized environment
- Recruitment and administrating federal and state programs
- Excelling in effective communication, both written and verbal, adeptly handles difficult conversations, and demonstrates strong problem-solving skills
- Proficient and prioritizing, aligning and adapting to changes, and resourceful, while maintaining genuine and ongoing support
- Demonstrated success in building strong and productive partnerships with employees and managers at all levels, recognized as a trusted advisor
- Strong business acumen sharp, sharp critical thinking skills, and a results-oriented mindset
- Proficient in advanced use of Microsoft 365, including Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint
- Proficient knowledge of FMLA, NJFLA, ADA, NJ State Disability
- Ability to navigate diverse and sensitive situations in a dynamic, high-visibility union environment
- Must be based in the Hamilton, New Jersey office
