Job Summary
Senior HSE Coordinator responsible for overseeing the Bird Safety Program and monitoring safety compliance on assigned projects. Location-based in Mississauga and Orillia, Ontario. Assist in site inspections, audits, and risk assessments; support development and delivery of safety training and toolbox talks; monitor site activities for policy/procedure compliance; participate in incident investigations and assist with root cause analysis; maintain safety records and documentation; promote a positive safety culture; stay up to date with local, provincial, and federal safety regulations; provide administrative support to the HSE team; travel within the GTA to various sites. Strong knowledge of OHSA, safety inspections, and trades-related hazards; proficient in Microsoft Office; valid driver’s license; willingness to travel; pursuing or possessing safety certifications (CRSP, CRST, CHSO, NCSO). The role emphasizes safety leadership, compliance, training, incident investigations, and risk mitigation across construction environments.
Required Qualifications
- Certificate, diploma, or degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field (or working toward completion)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a health and safety role, preferably in construction or a related industry
- Knowledge of Ontario health and safety legislation (e.g., OHSA)
- Knowledge of conducting safety inspections against regulations and internal procedures
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of formwork, carpentry, electrical, and other trades, and the ability to effectively communicate about hazards and effective controls to mitigate risk
- Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to various sites within the GTA
- Safety certifications (e.g., CRSP, CRST, CHSO, NCSO)
